East African women and their communities have been profoundly impacted by war and military dictatorship for decades, but, too often, their voices are marginalized. In Darfur (Sudan) and Tigray (Ethiopia), gender-based violence (GBV) has been systematically used as a genocidal weapon of war. While women and girls in Eritrea have been forcibly conscripted into the military, where GBV is rampant.

Despite historical conflicts and tensions - including Eritrea’s 30-year War of Independence from Ethiopian rule, Eritrean involvement in the ongoing Tigray Genocide, and recent allegations against Ethiopia for the mistreatment and violence towards Eritrean and Sudanese refugees - there have also been glimmers of support among activists and communities. However, the current proxy war in Sudan raises further questions about the diaspora’s role in standing against regional violence.

This conversation will probe what true solidarity could look like in the East African diaspora, exploring ways to foster meaningful connections, mutual support, and shared advocacy. We will discuss these pressing issues with Azeb, Alawia & Hanna. The talk will be guided by Namarig. Join us - online or in person - to learn about the strength of solidarity and the urgent need for lasting peace in East Africa.

ኣብ ዳርፉርን ትግራይን፡ ጾታዊ ዓመጽ ስርዓታዊ ብዝኾነ መገዲ፡ ከም መሳርሒ ኲናት ኣብ ጥቕሚ ውዒሉ ኢዩ። ኣብ ኤርትራ ውን ኣንስትን ኣዋልድን ኣብ ግዱድ ዕስክርና ተሳቲፈን ሰፊሕ ዝርግሐ ዘለዎ ጾታዊ ዓመጽ ድማ በጺሕወን። ደቀንስትዮን ሕብረተሰባተንን ኣብ ትሕቲ ዓሚቝ ጸገም ድምጸን ድማ ከይተሰምዐ ጸኒሑ። እዚ ልዝብ ድማ ድምጸን ንቕድሚት መጽዩ፡ ደቀንስትዮ ዳርፉር፡ ትግራይን ኤርትራን ውልቃውን ናይ ሓባርን ተሞክሮ ዝለዋወጣሉ ክኸውን፡ ምስኡ ውን እቲ ጽንዓትን ሓድነትን መግለጺአን ኮይኑ ክቕጽል ኢዩ።

ኣብ ሞንጎ ማሕበራውያን ተነጣጠፍቲን ማሕበረሰባትን ናይ ምድግጋፍ ምልክታት ኣሎ፡ ዋላ’ኳ ናይ ሕሉፍ ግርጭታትን ህልው ዝኾነ ወጥርን፡ ከም ናይ 30 ዓመታት ቃልሲ ናጽነት ኤርትራ፡ ተራ ኤርትራ ኣብ ጀኖሳይድ ትግራይን ናይዚ ቀረባ ግዜ ዓመጻት ኣብ ልዕሊ ኤርትራውያንን ሱዳናውያንን ስደተኛታት ደቀንስትዮ እንተሃለወ፡ እዚ ልዝብ እዚ ነቲ ናይ ብሓቂ ሓድነት ኣብ ሞንጎ ኣብ ወጻኢ ሃገራት ዝነብሩ ዜጋታት ምብራቕ ኣፍሪቃ ከመይ ከም ዝመስል ክርኢ፡ ትርጉም ዘለዎ ምትእስሳር ንምምዕባል፡ ናይ ሕድሕድ ምድግጋፍን ሓባራዊ ጥብቅነትን ክፍትሽ ኢዩ።

እዚ ሕጂ ኣብ ሱዳን ዘሎ ናይ ውክልና ኲናት ድማ ንተራ ናይቶም ኣብ ወጻኢ ሃገራት ዝነብሩ ዜጋታት ኣብቲ ዞባዊ ጎንጺ ተወሳኺ ሕቶታት ዘለዓዕል ኢዩ። ምስቲ ኣብ ዝሓለፈ ዓመታት ሱዳን ዝነበራ ተራ ኣብ ምዕቋብ ኤርትራውያንን ኢትዮጵያውያንን ስደተኛታት፡ ሰለምንታይ ኢዩ ሕጂ ኣብዚ ናይ ሱዳን ናይ ገዛእ ርእሳ ጨካን ዝኾነ ኲናት ካብዞም ማሕበረሰባት ትሑት ዝኾነ ምትሕብባር ዘሎ? እዚ ኣጋጣሚ ሓላፍነት ናይ ኣብ ወጻኢ ዝነብሩ ዜጋታት ዶብ-ሰገር ጸረ-ኲናት ምንጥጣፍን ንጎነጽ ኣብ ኩሉ ቦታ ንምቅዋምን ዝዕድም ምይይጥ ኢዩ።

ጉዕዞ ናብ ናይ ሓባር ሓርነትን ፍትሕን ኪኖ ወግዓዊ ናይ ሰላም ስምምዓትን መንግስታት ዝመርሕዎ ዘተን ዝኸይድ ኢዩ። ምስ ሂወትን ባህልን ህዝብታት ናይ ሃገራት፡ እቲ ብተደጋጋሚ ድማ ኣብ ኣገልግሎት ኲናትን ግጭትን ዝውዕል፡ ዝተጠናነገ ኢዩ። ኣብ ሕብረተሰባት ዝህሉ ዝርርብን ኣብቶም መሰረታውያን ባእታታት ዝግበር ንጥፈታትን ናብ ሓቀኛ ሓድነት ዘብጽሕ መምርሒ መገዲ ክሃንጽን ንዝተመቓቐሉ ሕብረተሰባት መራኸቢ ድልድል ዝፈጥርን ክኸውን ይኽእል ኢዩ። በዚ ዝርርብ ድማ ዓሚቝ መረዳእታ ናይቲ ነባሪ ዝኾነ ሰላምን ፍትሕን ካብ መሰረት ኣትሒዙ ንምምዕባል ዘድሊ ዘሎ ሓባራዊ ጻዕሪ ክንረክብ ንኽእል።

ኣብ መወዳእታ፡ እዚ ኣጋጣሚ መጻኢ ናይ ምብራቕ ኣፍሪቃ ማሕበረሰባት ሓቢሮም ደው ዝብሉሉ ጥራይ ዘይኮነ፡ ሓቢሮም ኣንጻር ኣብ ኩሉ ቦታ ዝለዓል ጎነጽ ዝቃወሙሉ መገዲ ሃሰስ ንምባል ኢዩ። በዚ ድማ ንናይ ሓባር ስጉምቲ ዝደፍእ ዝርርብን ምርድዳእን ክነማዕብል ተስፋ ንገብር።

ኣብዚ ኣገዳሲ ምይይጥ ንምትሕልላኻት ናይ ግርጭት፡ ንሓይሊ ናይ ሓድነትን ንዘለና ዶባት ዝሳገር ሓላፍነትን ኣብ እነሰላስለሉ እዋን ተጸንበሩና።
