Über die Veranstaltung
The Sharing Circle is an open and safer space with sharing at its core. In a relaxed and respectful atmosphere, we come together to exchange experiences of racism in the workplace and everyday life, as well as broader questions of discrimination, empowerment, and belonging. Sharing can mean speaking about personal experiences, thoughts, or feelings—or simply listening, holding space, and offering attention, empathy, and solidarity. The Circle is grounded in the belief that making our stories audible is a first step toward structural change: by breaking silences, we open conversations that are often missing in our communities and institutions.
This is not a workshop and not a panel. There is no audience. Everyone present shares and listens as equals, guided by shared community guidelines that help preserve the Circle’s safe and supportive character. The Circle is a space to connect, find allies or support, release accumulated tensions, and foster empathy and solidarity.
The Sharing Circle is facilitated by Khushboo Jain, who has been holding monthly Sharing Circles at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Participants have described the Circles as offering moments of relief, connection, and a sense of community.
